Pieter Schuurman
Director
Pieter Schuurman was born in Bloemfontein on 31 January 1959. He attended Dan Pienaar High School and matriculated in 1976. He obtained a B.Iuris degree from the University of the Free State and a LL.B degree from UNISA.
Since January 1982 he was employed by
the Department of Justice as a prosecutor at the Welkom Magistrate’s
Court. During 1984 he was appointed as Senior Prosecutor.
During 1986 he was appointed as Regional Court Control Prosecutor for the region of the Northern Free State.
During 1988 he was appointed as magistrate, first in the criminal courts and later also acted as magistrate in the civil courts
After leaving the employment of the Department of Justice he completed
his articles as a candidate attorney at Kloppers & De la Rey
Attorneys Welkom. During 1990 he was admitted as an attorney of the
High Court.
He joined the firm Maree & Partners,
Virginia, during 1990 and later on practiced as an attorney at Maree
Gouws, Welkom. He was a director of the aforesaid firm.
He joined Hill McHardy & Herbst Inc., Bloemfontein during 2005. He is one of the senior directors of the firm.
He is mainly involved in all matters pertaining to High Court litigation.
Due to his broad exposure to different
aspects of the law as well as the valuable experience he gained over the
years, Pieter is able to advise and provide a high standard of service
to his clients.
